Tampere – November 29, 2013 – Tampere-based startup TeamUp Oy was given national honorary mention yesterday in Tuottava Idea competition (”Productive Idea”) organized by the Junior Chamber International Finland. The winner and the three companies receiving the honorary mentions in this competition, held for the 36th time, were announced in the award ceremony held during the Chamber of Commerce Forum at Finlandia Hall in Helsinki on November 28th.
The aim of the Productive Idea competition is – as evident in its name – to raise new, productive ideas to awareness, promote innovation and increase the valuation of entrepreneurship in the Finnish society. The patron of this year’s event was entrepreneur Harry Harkimo. In addition to him, the national jury selecting the winners included e.g. Tero Lausala, CEO of the Association for Finnish Work; Kaisa Saario, adviser of Finland Chamber of Commerce; Jussi Järventaus, Managing Director of the Federation of Finnish Enterprises; and Timo Wallenius, Managing Director of Junior Chamber International Finland.
In awarding TeamUp the honorary mention the national jury praised the company for its open-minded idea in a new business area, stating also that the idea has the potential to become the major player world-wide in crowd-funding of sports. Full comments (in Finnish) of the jury can be read here.
Donna Kivirauma, CEO of TeamUp Oy, comments on the award: “Wow what an honor! I want to thank the Tuottava Idea national jury, our amazing TeamUppers, the 257 talents and 40+ companies in TeamUp who have believed in us and have pioneered in adopting our service.”
TeamUp was awarded the esteemed Red Herring Europe Top 100 award in March 2013. On 30th October the company officially launched a new social media community which is a new kind of meeting place for talents, fans and businesses. At www.teamup.fi athletes, musicians and artists can be supported by fans and business sponsors in various ways, and new partnerships have already been made between businesses and talents. For Businesses, TeamUp offers a positive way to connect to their customers.
Success in the Productive Idea competition is yet another significant recognition for the startup that only recently turned one year old. However, the company has already set its goals beyond the Finnish borders. “We are looking forward to our future at TeamUp, especially as we implement our international plans,” states CEO Donna Kivirauma.
TeamUp is the best way that talents and groups can find sponsors and offer a great marketing opportunity to the businesses that support them. www.teamup.fi
